A Man's World

Keisha Coggins, 17, from Newham, reckons we still have a way to go before both sexes are treated equally...

The power of women is still underestimated – and yet it is women that make this world whole. Where would we all be today without women? Some people don’t really recognise the amazing power and ability women have, and still undermine their capabilities and their successes.

Why should women conform to society’s expectation of them to be submissive? Why don’t they have the same opportunities at work as men? How is it that men get paid more than women for doing the same job? The inequalities in society are so unjust!

However, I love the fact that more and more women are managers now in the workplace in a whole variety of industries; it gives younger women a positive outlook and inspires us to hope to achieve beyond our ability. There is nothing that we can’t do if we put our full thought and power into it. We don’t have to abide by society’s stereotypes. With our power, we can do anything!
