On the 1st of August, we will be running tattoo art drawing, by tattoo artist Georgia. With a love for art and ink, read what she said about delivering a taster course in tattoo art drawing this year.
My name is Georgia and I’m 24 years old. I’ve always been artistic but also always had a range of different interests completely different from art.
I got into tattooing by accident – despite friends telling me I would be great for years – and haven’t looked back; it’s something I enjoy and am good at, while also providing me with an income!
I find it important that the stereotypes and judgements surrounding tattooing and people with tattoos are questioned and criticised; it’s no longer 1940 and tattoos are not all about war, what gang you belong to etc – they are pieces of art that anybody can have, man or woman.
Having something to do during the summer holidays as a young person is so important: children and young people need something to keep them occupied that gets them out of the house and away from their phones or a screen.
This is one of the main reasons I decided to share my art skills with others; to provide young people with a place to go where they can be informed about something that they are interested in instead of just Googling it.
