mayamada GamePad is a social gaming event promoting inclusion through video games and other all-ages activities. We run events in communities across London throughout the year.
This summer, we’re bringing a popup GamePad experience to Futureversity! Experienced and casual gamers alike will be able to enjoy a great game lineup that includes fan favourites like Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros and FIFA. We’ll also be running tournaments for young people to win tickets to the autumn GamePad event on September 28th 2019!
Our aim with GamePad is to make the gaming experience fun for everyone, not just the “stereotypical” gamer. This means creating a welcoming environment and community for guys, girls and families from all backgrounds.
Taking the gaming experience offline in a world of Fortnite and other online gaming is by design. We believe in the benefits real-world social gaming can have to combat isolation and improve wellbeing for young people growing up in an online world. At GamePad, you’ll find attendees getting to know each other in person as they play together on the same screen.
“For a lot of young people, gaming is done online which can be physically isolating. We want people to experience the magic of gaming with friends and family in the same room at GamePad.”– Nigel Twumasi, mayamada co-founder.
GamePad is run by mayamada, a creative London based manga brand. We create manga-style comics set in our own universe of characters and believe in the power creativity has to positively shape our future.
